Making the Impossible Possible 

Impossible Possibilities is an up-and-coming nonprofit in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The organization was founded in August 2007 with a central focus on building education initiatives locally and abroad. 

Impossible Possibilities was started by a set of twin brothers born in Victoria, Texas, who both currently reside in Fort Worth. Joshua and Justin Hernandez, President and Vice President of Finance, respectively, devised a strategic plan to bring their charitable vision to life. The vision: to implement innovative marketing strategies with an overall concept of helping students achieve their life aspirations through education.

The 24-year old brothers built a sound base of interactive programs benefiting students from first-graders to high school graduates. Impossible Possibilities’ distinct programs range from a “day-in-the-life” series entitled “The Glimpse” to an international program geared at building schools abroad named “Past the Periphery.”  

“We developed ideas that would appeal directly to students,” Joshua Hernandez said. “We wanted to move away from the boring strategies that are preventing other organizations from being successful."

The organization will fund its initiatives through two community-oriented events slated to begin in the spring of 2009. Impossible Possibilities will hold its first annual St. Patrick's Day-5K Festival on March 14, 2009, at Trinity Park in Fort Worth. The second event will consist of a golf tournament in Dallas to be announced at a later date. The goal of both events is to raise money and awareness while simultaneously imbedding the organization firmly into the DFW community.

The 5K (3.1 miles) will feature music, food and games all within the confines of a family oriented environment. The brothers expect both events to entice many area residents.

“Our main goal for both the 5K and the golf tournament is to make these events completely over the top and to incorporate a real sense of pageantry, where families and individuals will want to come back in the future,” Justin Hernandez said. 

Impossible Possibilities will raise additional revenue through sponsorships with local businesses, which will fund the organization's Scholarship and Grant Initiatives. The brothers expect to finish the goals they initially set in motion by continuing to align themselves with passionate individuals who have been with them from the start. 

For instance, Impossible Possibilities is legally aided by Vinson and Elkins Law Firm. In addition, the organization’s 5K event will be hosted by the Fort Worth Running Company, which has a history of designing race courses in the DFW area. There are also graphic designers, web developers, multi media personnel, animators and artists who keep the creative hallmark of the organization flowing.  

“It’s pretty exciting to see everything come together,” Joshua Hernandez said. “This is just the beginning. Now the hard work really starts.”
