The other panel participants included Reid Strobel, Director of Business Ventures for the Catholic Charities, Diocese of Fort Worth, Inc., and Jyl Dehaven, Executive Director of EARTH NT, Co-Founder of Green Collar Vets and Founder of Jyl’s Green Planet.

Justin Paxton, class of 2012, moderated the discussion and asked the panel questions on various topics, including the reasons each chose a career in the nonprofit industry, the major challenges involved with running a nonprofit, the differences and similarities between nonprofit and for-profit ventures and what students can expect if they plan to enter the nonprofit sector.

“It’s always great to speak to students about the opportunities available to them by working with a nonprofit organization,” Vice President Justin Hernandez said. “I think students these days are more socially conscious and willing to start their careers with a nonprofit, knowing they'll gain valuable experience while making a difference in the community."
