Chancellor Leadership Program Legacy AwardImpossible Possibilities interns Monika Sadarangani and Walter Sanders III received the Chancellor Leadership Program’s (CLP) “Lance Kearns Legacy Award of Excellence” for their participation in the Maven’s Milestones (MM) Reading Achievement Program.
Sadarangani and Sanders chose the MM program as their Legacy Project. MM is an incentive-based reading achievement program designed to improve student reading performance and increase standardized testing scores. In 2011, the interns helped introduce the program into Meadowbrook Elementary, which is one of a handful of schools in the Fort Worth ISD that received an "Academically Unacceptable" standardized test score in reading for the 2010-2011 academic school years. With the addition of Meadowbrook, the organization is now servicing more than 900 students, tripling the number of students that participated in the pilot program the previous year. For their efforts, Sadarangani and Sanders received the "Lance Kearns Award for Excellence," which is given annually to the senior(s) who demonstrated a commitment to the CLP program and to his or her individual Legacy Project. Impossible Possibilities is a 501(c)(3) public nonprofit organizations based out of the Dallas-Fort Worth area providing education initiatives locally and abroad. |
